All of the classes at Decatur Makers are posted on our Meetup page.
Although members get a discount on classes (varies by class), Meetup only allows a single price. Members will be reimbursed if they attend the class or cancel more than two days in advance.
Come up with a skill or project that you’re passionate about and would like to share.
Fill out the class proposal (found here) and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Send the class proposal to the class committee.
Upon approval, coordinate with Irm or Kevin on a date (check our Meetup calendar for available times).
We encourage testing out classes with smaller groups, particularly with new instructors.
Our Meetup gets a lot of traffic, so we ask that you not send emails out to the entire group. Clicking "Announce" after your event has posted is ok, but further emails through MeetUp put us at risk of being characterized as spam.
Decatur Makers splits the profits (revenue less material costs) with its teachers. For example, if you charge $35 per person for a class, with material costs of $15 per person, the remaining $20 per person will be split between you and Decatur Makers, with each of you receiving $10 per person.
The membership discount is taken from the portion allotted to Decatur Makers. Your share remains the same regardless of whether the student is a member or a non-member.
