We hope you all are still doing as well as can be expected during these crazy times. There are no easy answers to how to safely host in-person access to the physical makerspace during the pandemic; The health and safety of our Staff and Members is our top priority.
As the impact of COVID-19 continues into this holiday season with cases on the rise, the Decatur Makers Board and Staff made the difficult, preemptive decision this weekend to temporarily step back from our Beta Opening Phase and close our makerspace, effective Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26 through January 14.
However, we will continue to assess the pandemic situation during this period, and will return to our Beta Opening Phase again as soon as we feel it is safe. We will keep you posted!
We realize that closing down during the holidays will effect your holiday gift making plans, and we would like to offer 3D Printing and Glowforge laser cutting/engrave contactless concierge services. During our closing, Staff will be able to run a limited number of jobs on the 2 Ender-3 Pros, 1 Creality CR10, and the Glowforge on a first come first serve basis.
3D printing project files (.stl, .obj) can be sent to [email protected]
and we will slice them and print those for you to pick-up at a later date in our designated pickup bin outside.
Glowforge project files (.svg,.png,.jpeg) can be sent to [email protected]urmakers.org where you can also designate particular Glowforge settings. Considering the possible volume of requests, we ask that you keep your cuts under 60 minutes, and limit the volume of material being cut to the minimum. You will be required to drop off the material you would like Glowforged, in one of our designated drop-off bins outside. Finished jobs can be picked up at a later date from our designated pick-up bin outside.
